One thing that you don’t hear too often spoken out loud about the adoption process are the emotional ups and downs. There is a perceived need to put on a happy positive face. And truly it should be so simple. Chloe has been such an inspiration. She clearly believes that if God wanted us to go to China next week to get her sister we could. She understands the long expensive process pretty good but she understands the power of God. It blows me away how clear she is on this. When we explain that we don’t yet have the funds. . .she says “can’t God provide them right away?” I say, “Yes, sweet girl He can. There are also many piles of paperwork and legalities.” She says, “But mom, nothing is too big for God.” But she didn’t even stop there. She asked, “Is that not true mom?” Oh yes He can!!! Love her!
Particularly with international adoption the process is hard, long, detailed, and time consuming. You move forward excited to get a step done but then the next step or at some points just simply the wait slaps you in the face. There are also seemingly so many obstacles. If you look forward to everything that needs to be done (which is too easy to do once you have been through the process before), then it is overwhelming. Last night as I looked over everything and there were two big obstacles weighing me down. First, the next couple payments. We just need a God sized miracle. Secondly, our son that is away at college. Apparently, he needs to be treated as though he lives here. So background checks, medicals, etc. Not easy with him at school with a busy class schedule and no car. Getting him home for less than a Holiday break is pretty impossible. (UPDATE:THESE PRAYERS REGARDING KENNETH WERE ANSWERED! OUR GOD IS AMAZING AND PERSONAL!)
But as the tension began to take hold, God reminded. . .”hands wide open.” That is after all how we got to this point and that is how we must continue on. Hands wide open. Please pray for us, for our process, for our daughter. We can only do this with His help. We can go through the process but not find favor. We can have tees, puzzle pieces and auctions but not sell them. Human efforts are worthless without God giving us favor with those who can help. Please pray that we find favor as we travel this road. That God would change hearts and make a clear path.
Thank you all for taking time to read this and to pray. It means so much to us!
